Masking set for the De Havilland Tiger Moth kit from Airfix in 1:48 scale in a double-sided rendition. It serves to prepare a model for spraying, not for building it.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of stencils for painting the Airfix kit of the British training biplane. It is supplied in a double-sided rendition. It is not a model of the aircraft but an aid that speeds up work with an airbrush and improves the crispness of the edges.
The Tiger Moth came out of the 1930s as a basic trainer and became the pillar of British flying training. The wings were given sweepback so that the crew could get out of the front cockpit with a parachute, and the inverted inline Gipsy Major engine was undemanding as well as durable. After the war hundreds of Tiger Moths passed into civilian hands, where they served flying clubs and farmers; airworthy examples can be met at air shows to this day. The structure of wood and steel could be repaired even under field conditions, which suited the training units.
With the struts and bracing the rule is to mask before they are fitted, otherwise you will not reach the underside of the upper wing. Spray in thin coats, so that the texture of the fabric covering is not lost under the build-up. Lift the stencils carefully after spraying; the small wooden and wire elements will take only a slight pull. The color fields of trainers tend to be large in area, so it pays to work from the lighter shade to the darker.
The set assumes you already have the Airfix kit; there are no plastic parts in the box.
