Six laser-guided GBU-12 bombs on the Mk.82 body together with two pylons and two triple racks for a model of the Rafale in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A second-generation guidance kit turns an ordinary bomb into a weapon that follows a reflected laser beam. At the front a head with a sensor is added, at the back folding fins, and the hit then depends on how precisely the operator or a targeting pod holds the mark on the target. The body stays standard, the caliber roughly two hundred and twenty-seven kilograms.
The set offers six such bombs in the size for 1:48 scale, two underwing pylons and two triple racks. A sheet of decals is not missing. On real munitions the lettering is densely scattered from the head to the tail, and its legibility betrays how much of the weapon is actually to be seen when they hang close beside one another in a trio.
A triple rack occupies one underwing station, so two sets of parts will cover both sides of the aircraft. The smaller fins break easily, so it is better to leave them on the sprue until the remaining parts are painted.
The castings tend to be covered in a thin film, which has to be removed with a scalpel, otherwise the head will not align with the axis once glued. Before varnishing, a brief bath with a degreasing agent is recommended.
This type belongs among the most widespread guided armament of the Western air forces and it appears in photographs of French machines on operational deployment perhaps most often of all.
