A set of waterslide decals by the British maker Xtradecal in 1:48 scale. It offers several schemes connected with the famous No. 617 Squadron of the RAF, nicknamed the Dambusters, over the span from 1943 to 2008. During that period the squadron went through various aircraft types, so the set serves to mark the matching models. The historical unit markings are reproduced here factually, as a modeling reference.
No. 617 Squadron was formed during the Second World War for a special attack on German dams and became one of the best known units of the RAF. In the following decades it flew a number of other types and its history reaches into the modern era. The set captures a selection of its markings from various periods, which modelers building a themed collection will appreciate.
Apply the decals over a smooth gloss varnish, so that no matte edge forms around the designs. Soak the item, move it into place, blot the water away and settle it with a decal softener. Check that the scheme you have chosen matches the aircraft type you are building. Once dry, seal it with a varnish of the sheen you want.
