The air intake for the environmental control and cooling unit is one of the small but clearly visible features on the fuselage of the A-10 Thunderbolt II. In a kit this part tends to be a compromise of production technology, because the shape of the intake is limited by how the part has to come out of the mold. This accessory offers a replacement for precisely that detail, so the kit part is swapped for a separately produced replacement without touching the rest of the fuselage.
The set holds a replacement air intake for the environmental control unit in 1:48 scale for the A-10A and A-10C versions. In shape it is based on the A-10 kit from Academy, so with other kits check the seating before gluing and adjust the contact surface if need be.
The part is not polystyrene, so liquid cement for plastic has no effect on it and it is joined with super glue. Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that you do not shorten the intake itself. Cut or sand the kit part out so that the replacement sits without a gap. Before painting, wash and degrease the part, otherwise the paint may not hold on the surface. If the intake is open through, paint its inside before you seat the part; once it is glued you can no longer reach it. The particular fitting procedure is in the manufacturer's instructions.
The accessory will be appreciated by modelers who take a build through to the detail and do not want to rework the whole fuselage for the sake of one part. The kit, paints, glue and other accessories are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
