A set of resin landing gear wheels for a model of the Douglas A-1H Skyraider attack aircraft in 1:48 scale, completed by die-cut paint masks. The accessory from the Czech firm Aires replaces the wheels of the basic kit with castings with a finer tread and hub detail; the masks then ensure a crisp boundary between the color of the tire and that of the hub. It is not a model in its own right - the basic kit has to be obtained separately.
The Douglas A-1 Skyraider was an American single-engine piston attack aircraft that, despite the arrival of jets, excelled in the weight of ordnance it could carry and in its long endurance over the target. The A-1H version became famous above all in the Vietnam War, where it served with the US Navy, the US Air Force and South Vietnamese units - typically in the direct support of ground troops and escorting rescue helicopters.
Wash the castings in soapy water, cut off the casting blocks and sand the marks down with respiratory protection. Glue the wheels with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Spray the tires first, lay the masks on and finish the hubs. Matte varnish and a fine dusting with pigment will give the landing gear a convincing in-service look.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The basic aircraft kit is not included in the package.
