Eduard TFace masks for the glazing of a Douglas A-1J model in 1:48 scale. The double-sided variant for the outer and inner surfaces of the canopy, an accessory to a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A double-sided masking set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the Douglas A-1J attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. The designation TFace means a wider extent than the basic set: besides the outer masks, the package holds pieces for the inner side of the glazing as well. The frames of the canopy thus get the right shade on both sides, which anyone who builds the model with an open cockpit will appreciate. This is not a kit but an accessory to one.
The Douglas A-1 Skyraider is a single-seat attack aircraft with a radial piston engine, a design that came about at the close of the Second World War and lasted exceptionally long in operational service. The A-1J version is among the late single-seat forms. A characteristic feature is the large cockpit with its well-glazed side panels, and that is exactly where the view inward onto the frames counts for most.
Degrease the glazing before sticking the masks on and let it dry. Sort the pieces into inner and outer in advance so that you do not mix them up while settling them; with a double-sided set that is the commonest source of mistakes. Paint the inner side with the interior shade and only then move to the outside with the camouflage shade. Apply thin coats and take the tape off as soon as the paint has flashed off.
The package holds the masks alone. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
