This resin set from the Quickboost brand of the Czech maker Aires brings a faithfully cast control lever for the cockpit of a model of the American Cessna A-37 Dragonfly light ground-attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but a small detail accessory for more experienced modelers, which replaces the coarser plastic part with a fine casting with the controls indicated. In an open cockpit the lever is a prominent feature that everyone notices.
The Cessna A-37 Dragonfly was an American light ground-attack and counter-insurgency aircraft derived from the T-37 jet trainer. It was deployed above all during the Vietnam War for close support of ground units and served with a number of allied air forces as well. The A-37B version had a strengthened airframe and the ability to refuel in flight.
First wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release residue is removed. Carefully cut off the casting block and sand the cut surface with respiratory protection. Bond the part with super glue (cyanoacrylate). It comes into its own after painting and a subtle emphasis of the details.
The set is supplied as a resin part, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an airplane model but an accessory to a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
