The real subject

The Cromwell was one of the most successful British tanks of the Second World War. Thanks to its powerful engine it was among the fastest tanks of its day and stood up well against machines of a similar weight class. The Mk.IV version carried a 75 mm gun adapted for American ammunition. Cromwells played a prominent part in the fighting in northwest Europe after the landings in Normandy.

Building and painting tips

Assemble the running gear and the hull first, and close the whole up only after that. Glue the parts with plastic cement for styrene, and the small parts with a careful touch. For a faithful look, a primer, matte varnish under the decals and a subsequent patina all help. Create mud and dust effects on the running gear with washes and pigments; bring out the edges with a dry brush. British khaki shades will give the model an authentic character.
