Eduard 1:48 A6M2 Model 11 exhausts early PRINT are printed replacement exhausts for a model of the Mitsubishi A6M2 in the Model 11 version in 1:48 scale. The accessory is aimed at the engine section; it is not a kit.

Unlike the cockpit sets, this item from the Czech firm Eduard does not touch the interior at all. It is aimed at the engine section, specifically at the exhaust pipes emerging from the cowling of the radial engine. This is a place where the plastic parts from a kit run into the physical limits of the technology: an exhaust is supposed to have a hollow, thin-walled end, but a mold can only form it as a solid cylinder. The printed form, to which the designation PRINT in the name refers, removes that obstacle and offers a mouth with a real opening.
The Mitsubishi A6M2 in the Model 11 version was an early land-based variant of the Japanese carrier-based fighter, which did not yet have the folding wingtips of the later carrier version. It was powered by a radial engine and the exhaust pipes ran around the circumference of the engine cowling. The word early in the name of the set refers to the early form of the exhaust arrangement, which changed on this type during production, and that is why sets in more than one form exist for a single subject.
The printed parts are small and fragile. Wash them in warm water with detergent before gluing and painting, cut or snip the support struts off with a scalpel right at the part and sand the remainder down with a fine file. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The exhausts come out well when, once painted, they are treated with a combination of rusty and sooty shades and the mouths darkened from within; the contrast against the engine cowling around them is exactly what makes them convincing.
This is an accessory, not a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
