3D-printed landing flaps for the A6M2-N Rufe in 1:48 scale from Eduard replace the flaps from the box with resin parts with a fine internal structure.

This is not a kit of the aircraft but an accessory for one: 3D-printed resin landing flaps for a model of the A6M2-N Rufe floatplane fighter in 1:48 scale. Note the distinction — this set is resin and printed, not photo-etched; a photo-etched variant of the flaps exists for the same type, and these are two different ways of settling the same detail. Resin offers a sculpted shape and an internal structure in one piece, while photo-etched parts offer extremely thin material at the cost of bending the parts.
Lowered flaps are among the details that turn a model at once into a machine caught on landing or parked on the apron. On the real aircraft the inside of the wing is visible under a flap, with ribs and the mechanism — and that is the part a plastic kit mostly handles only in outline, because a mold cannot reach inside. The A6M2-N grew out of the airframe of the A6M2 fighter, and its wing kept the form of the flaps essentially unchanged.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent before working on them. Cut the supports off with a sharp cutter in small steps; the thin edges of the flaps break off easily. With lowered flaps the original part has to be cut out of the kit's wing — so try dry first how the new flaps seat. Paint the inner surfaces before gluing and bring them out with a fine wash; finish the edges only after they are seated, so that the transition is not visible.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
