1:48 A6M2 Zero Zero Zero! Hinomaru

A6M2 Zero Hinomaru — painting masks 1:48 (MH Models)

This is not a kit but a set of self-adhesive painting masks from MH Models in 1:48 scale. The masks let you spray the circular national roundels of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service, the hinomaru, straight in paint instead of using decals, so the result matches the shade and the sheen of the surrounding finish exactly and there is no risk of decal silvering.

The real subject

The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was a Japanese carrier fighter and the symbol of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service at the beginning of the war in the Pacific. The early A6M2 version stood out for its range and its agility and was committed from the first months of the conflict.

Use

• Spray the area of the future marking first in the color of the marking, usually white and red.
• Once it is dry, apply the circular masks exactly over the marking.
• Overspray with the surrounding color, or conversely expose the area for the marking, as the instructions direct.
• Lift the masks carefully once the paint is dry.

Who the set is for

• Modelers who want to spray the national markings instead of using decals.
• Those who struggle with silvering and mismatched sheen on large decals.

The set contains masks only; the paints and the model itself are not included in the package.
