This item completes a model of the Japanese fighter A6M5 in 1:48 scale with an assembly of photo-etched parts for the cockpit and the outer surfaces. It is kept for machines coming from the parent plant that designed the type. The set serves as an improvement to a part-built kit and its parts are of metal. It is made by Eduard, a Czech firm from Obrnice near Most.
Behind the design stood the team of the engineer Jiro Horikoshi, who staked everything on low weight, long range and exceptional agility. The price for that was weak protection of the pilot and of the tanks, which from 1943 on was becoming an ever greater problem. The A6M5 version had shortened rounded wingtips, a strengthened skin and individual exhaust stacks whose stream contributed to the thrust. Finished machines were carried from the plant to the nearest airfield slowly and overland, because there was no usable take-off ground near the works.
The procedure is simple: first the interior, then close the fuselage, and only at the end the outside. Wipe the metal surfaces with alcohol before painting and use a primer, or the varnish will not hold. Apply cyanoacrylate glue with a toothpick, never straight from the tube. Leave the parts that have a color finish without a coat and complete them only with dark toning into the recesses, so that the structure stands out.
