An injection-molded plastic model of the Czechoslovak Aero L-39MS / L-59 Super Albatros jet trainer in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter. It is the modernized successor of the well-known Albatros; the type carried the designation L-39MS on its first flights and in export form it was offered as the L-59. The package contains injection-molded plastic parts and, according to the manufacturer's data, a small sheet of photo-etched metal for fine detail as well.
The L-39MS / L-59 Super Albatros came about as a markedly reworked version of the Aero L-39 Albatros trainer and light combat aircraft. Compared with the original machine it received a strengthened airframe, a lengthened nose, modernized avionics and a more powerful engine. It served for basic as well as advanced pilot training and could also perform light attack duties. It continues the long tradition of Czechoslovak Aero jet trainers.
Glue the plastic parts with a liquid model cement for plastic; attach the etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). It pays to paint and shade the cockpit carefully before closing the fuselage. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting and spray with an airbrush in thin coats; the smooth finishes of trainers reward a gloss base under the decals and gentle accenting of the panels.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
