HGW 1:48 Aichi D3A1 Val fabric seat belts are laser-cut fabric harness belts with photo-etched fittings that give the pilot's seat a real look.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an add-on set of harness belts by the Czech maker HGW for models of the Japanese Aichi D3A1 carrier dive bomber in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but a detail set that replaces flat plastic or printed belts with a faithful combination of thin fabric and photo-etched metal buckles.
The belts are made of a fine laser-cut fabric with a realistic thickness and texture that can be bent and shaped like a real strap. Photo-etched metal buckles and fittings go with them. The belts are assembled according to the enclosed instructions, threaded through the buckles and seated in the pilot's seat; super glue or modeling cement suits the job. The result is a markedly truer cockpit than the parts from the box give.
The Aichi D3A, called Val by the Allies, was the main carrier dive bomber of the Imperial Japanese Navy in the early part of the Pacific war and took part, among other actions, in the attack on Pearl Harbor. On this type a detailed cockpit with belts is among the favorite improvements.
The set contains only the harness belts and the fittings, not an aircraft model. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
