A set of painting (masking) masks from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:48 scale. The masks are precisely cut and serve to cover the frames of the canopy, the glazed areas and usually the tires of the wheels as well while paint and clear coat are sprayed. Thanks to their accurate shape you get crisp, clean edges without laborious masking by hand with tape. This is an aftermarket accessory, not a model in its own right — the masks are used on the matching plastic model of the aircraft concerned, which is obtained separately.
The Dassault-Breguet and Dornier Alpha Jet is a twin-engined jet aircraft of joint French and German design from the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. It served above all as an advanced trainer and, in the light ground-attack version, for close air support as well.
The masks are separated carefully from the sheet, laid onto a clean, degreased surface and pressed down gently, so that paint does not run to the edges. The paint is applied in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush; once it is dry the masks are taken off before the clear coat has hardened completely. It is a good idea to fill the rest of the glazed areas between the frames with masking tape or liquid mask.
These are painting masks, not an airplane model. The model itself, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
