A resin detail set from the Brassin line of the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft but an underwing accessory with which you equip a plastic kit of a combat aircraft. The set represents the AN/ALQ-131 electronic warfare pod in the shallow form together with a sheet of decals. The resin castings have finely indicated panels, antennas and cooling features.
The AN/ALQ-131 is an American underwing pod for electronic warfare that actively jams enemy radars and the guidance systems of air defenses. It was carried by a range of tactical aircraft of the US Air Force, among them the A-7, A-10, F-4, F-16 and F-111 types and the C-130 transport as well. The shallow variant differs from the deeper form in height and in the internal fit of the modules.
Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent, cut away the casting blocks and glue with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint the pod on its own, apply the decals over gloss varnish and fix them with a matte overcoat. Before fitting it to the pylon, check the position and the load rating of the corresponding pylon on the particular model.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
