The set contains upper limbs for a figure in 1:48 scale. It is not a model and not a whole figure but parts with which the stance of a figure is changed. It is precisely the arms that decide whether a figure comes across naturally in a scene — plastic figures tend to have their arms cast in a single, often unusable position. By exchanging the arms, the same figure can be turned into one that is holding something, pointing or leaning. The same subject comes out in further scales too.
The set is intended for conversions: for figures from plastic kits, for resin figures with a broken-off limb and for arrangements of your own from parts of several sources. The arms also suit cases where a figure holds an accessory that was not in the original kit. In 1:48 scale these are very small parts, so count on tweezers and good lighting. First separate the part from the casting system with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and level the trace of the sprue gate with a finer-grit sandpaper. If the set is cast in resin, wash it in lukewarm water with a detergent before painting to rid it of residues of the release agent, and choose the glue according to the material: on resin a cyanoacrylate super glue, on plastic parts a thin glue for plastic. Sand resin wet and with protection for your airways.
Before gluing, try the arm dry in its target position and check the length and the angle at the shoulder — a figure with too long an arm looks unnatural and in this scale it strikes the eye. Even the shoulder out with a two-part modeling compound and suggest the folds of the sleeve in it, so that the joint disappears. Paint only once it has been evened out and follow on smoothly from the shade of the figure's uniform; do not forget a thin dark shadow in the armpit and at the place where the sleeve passes into the hand.
This is an accessory for a figure, not a model on its own. The set is supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the figure are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
