Rebecca and Eureka were the two parts of a single radio navigation system of the Second World War. Eureka stood on the ground as the transponder, Rebecca flew aboard the aircraft as the interrogator. The aircraft sent an interrogation, the ground station answered, and from the reply the crew could find a designated spot even at night and in poor visibility. The system was therefore used widely in supply drops, in dropping paratroops and in guiding transport aircraft onto marked areas. In American service the airborne part carried the designation APN-2.
The set adds the airborne part of this equipment to a model in 1:48 scale. It is intended for the C-47, P-61B, B-24 and P-70 and for other machines on which the equipment was fitted. The manufacturer's instructions describe the exact contents of the package, the number of parts and the recommended position; the position of the antennas differs between individual types and batches, so compare it with the references for the machine you are building.
The parts are small and easily lost, so work over a light surface and separate them only just before gluing. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully. Try the fit dry before gluing and if necessary adjust the opening in the fuselage. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, so that the paint holds.
The set suits builders who want to fit a model out according to a particular machine and its task. The package holds the parts of the set; the kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
