The set 1:48 Avro Anson Mk.I landing flaps is a photo-etched Eduard accessory for a model of the Avro Anson Mk.I in 1:48 scale, focused on the landing flaps. Thin metal parts can capture the thickness of the sheet metal and the internal structure of a flap far more faithfully than injected plastic, thanks to which the flaps can convincingly be shown in the lowered position. It is not a kit: the model of the aircraft has to be obtained separately.
The Avro Anson Mk.I was a British twin-engine aircraft, originally intended for maritime patrol and later mainly a training machine for the training of crews. Lowered landing flaps belong to the typical picture of the aircraft standing on an airfield after landing, and they reveal part of the wing structure that a kit as a rule deals with by means of a single plastic part. A model with the structure of the flaps open therefore comes across as markedly more alive than a machine built with a smooth wing.
Cut the photo-etched parts with shears for photo-etched parts or with a scalpel on a hard surface. Bend long parts in a bending tool gradually, piece by piece, so that they do not ripple. Degrease them before gluing. Glue with superglue; with larger surfaces a variant with an extended setting time suits better. The original plastic flaps usually have to be cut off and the surface sanded down, so count on work with a saw and on making good the edge. Spray parts that are not pre-painted with a primer. Accentuate the inside of the flaps with a wash, so that the rib structure stands out.
The set is supplied as an accessory to a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
