A resin detail set from the manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale, the BRASSIN line. It is not a kit of an airplane but a set of replacement radial engines for a model of the B-17 Flying Fortress bomber in the F and G versions. The castings capture detailed radial engines including the gearboxes, the pushrods and the engine cowlings; the set tends to be filled out with photo-etched parts, for example the ignition harnesses and the frames of the cowlings.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress is an American four-engine heavy bomber of the Second World War, the key machine of daytime strategic bombing over Europe. It was powered by four air-cooled Wright Cyclone radial engines. The F and G versions represent the later production variants; the G version is the best known thanks to the added chin turret. Opened-up engines are a rewarding place for detailing.
Wash the parts clean of the mold release agent, carefully separate the casting blocks and clean the surfaces up with protection of the breathing. Glue the resin as well as the fine photo-etch with super glue. The engines are usually sprayed in metallic shades, and the cylinders and the harnesses are brought out with a dark wash and a dry brush; check the fit dry before closing the cowlings up.
This is an accessory for the power plant, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
