The North American B-25J Mitchell is an American twin-engined medium bomber of the Second World War. The glass nose version had the bombardier's station in the front, unlike the attack standard with a solid nose. It is precisely the glazing that is tricky for modelers, because there is a good view into the forward fuselage and into the pilot's cockpit, and an empty or crudely finished interior will give a finished model away.
The set brings printed color interior elements on a decal backing paper. They have a three-dimensional surface, so that real relief is created on the instrument panels, the side walls and the seats, not just a print. The elements slide off the paper after a brief dip and have no adhesive layer of their own; they hold on a gloss coat.
First spray the surfaces under the decals with a base color, let them dry thoroughly and go over them with a gloss coat of the Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22 type; the elements hold best on a glossy and degreased surface. Cut the individual parts out with a sharp blade, leave them in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide them off the backing paper into place. Draw the excess water off with a cotton swab, work in stages on curved walls and, where the shape gives trouble, help it along with a drop of super glue. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemicals attack the printed resin. Plan the work so that the interior is finished before you close the fuselage.
The set is for modelers who want the inside of the bomber to be legible without laborious painting of small details, and it also suits anyone who does not feel up to painting instruments. The package holds only the decals; the model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
