A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale for a plastic kit of the American medium bomber North American B-25J Mitchell. The sixth part of the Art Scale series is devoted to the machines of the American squadron nicknamed Dogface. The set contains only markings; neither the kit nor paints are part of it.
The B-25J was the most numerously built version of the Mitchell: a twin-engined high-wing monoplane with a twin vertical tail, powered by Wright Cyclone radial engines. It was produced both in the variant with a glazed nose for the bombardier and in a strike form with a solid nose. Bombers of this category usually carried pronounced individual markings: nose art, the names of the machines, mission symbols and tactical numbers. It is precisely this layer of markings that makes the Mitchell a rewarding model, as practically no two machines were alike.
The base under the decals must be smooth and glossy, so that no air gets under the film. Apply the large motifs on the nose in one go and measure the position out beforehand, because once dry they can no longer be moved. Across engraved lines and riveting use a decal softener, applied in small portions. Soak the excess water up with a soft cloth, and once dry varnish the model with a matte or semi-gloss clear coat, which will hide the edge of the film. With a natural metal finish it is especially important that the base is perfectly smooth before application.
