Photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 for the model of the American B-26G Marauder bomber. A set for your own kit; the model is not supplied.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Martin B-26 Marauder was a twin-engine medium bomber that the Americans deployed in Europe and in the Pacific. Short wings and a smooth fuselage gave it speed, but also a high landing speed that crews had to learn first. On a model the glazed nose with the bombardier station and the upper gun turret stand out; you can see inside both of them. The G designation belongs to the late production machines.
Photo-etched metal parts are made by etching the outline out of thin sheet, so they have a thickness that a plastic part will never come close to. On a model they suit instrument panels, buckles, stiffeners, grilles and flat rims, that is wherever the sheet should really be thin. On a bomber with several glazed stations the detail does not stay hidden. The list of parts and their placement is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Plan the work ahead: some of the parts belong inside before the fuselage is glued together, and once it is closed you cannot reach them. Cut through the tab with a sharp blade against a hard surface and sand the remainder with a fine file. For bends a photo-etch bending tool is the surest thing; otherwise lay two blades against the score line and bend the part in one go. Dose the glue in the amount that fits on the tip of a pin. Finally wash and degrease the metal and spray it with a primer intended for metal.
For builders of the B-26 in 1:48 who want to finish off the interior spaces and the fine metal shapes. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
