A resin add-on set of landing gear wheels for the B-29 Superfortress bomber kit in 1:48. It replaces the wheels from the plastic kit and makes the look of the landing gear more exact. The tires are cast with a bulge where they touch the ground, so the model stands on the surface under its own weight and does not look as though it hovers above it. According to the name this is the pattern matching the late production series.
The Boeing B-29 Superfortress was an American four-engined heavy bomber with a pressurized cabin and remotely controlled defensive armament. It served in the closing stage of the Second World War and then in Korea, where the later production machines mostly flew. The landing gear had a nose wheel, and each main leg carried a pair of wheels. Series production ran in several plants and the details of the wheels changed as it went on, which is why the resin replacements are made separately for early, mid and late machines.
Before building, wash the parts in warm water with dish soap and get the mold release agent off them. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw and level the face with sandpaper on a hard surface. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, as cement for plastic has no effect on it. Sand wet and with your airways protected. Apply primer before painting, otherwise a coat of paint comes off resin easily. Paint the tire a dark gray, bring out the dust on the sides and lighten the middle of the tread slightly. Check the angle of the bulge before you glue the wheels on, so that both of them stand on the same plane.
This is an add-on set, not a model kit. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
