This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard contains resin landing gear wheels in 1:48 scale for models of the four-engine B-29 Superfortress bomber. It is not an airplane kit but an aftermarket detail accessory that replaces the plastic wheels from the original kit. The package usually covers the main wheels and the nose wheel, and the hubs tend to be complemented by photo-etched parts for a more faithful hub cap.
On a large bomber the landing gear is clearly visible, so more detailed wheels tell in the overall impression. The resin casting offers a more accurate tread, hub and tire sidewall than plastic and makes it possible to suggest the load on the wheel at the contact patch. The parts are conceived as a direct replacement for the original wheel from the kit.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts in lukewarm soapy water, cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond both resin and photo-etched parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the tire and the hub separately.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin detail set. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
