This item is a set of resin parts from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, intended as the external load of a model of a combat aircraft in 1:48 scale. Its contents are model representations of the bodies of the American free-fall bombs of the B61 series. The set belongs to the Brassin resin range: the castings have crisper shapes and a cleaner surface than injection-molded plastic, which tells at once on smooth cylindrical bodies, because every irregularity shows on a glossy surface. The number of pieces in the package is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
From a modeling point of view this is a slender body with a smooth casing, a rounded front and a cylindrical tail section that holds the retarding system. The shape is designed to be carried under an aircraft with minimal drag, so on a model it looks markedly more slender than classic bombs with tail fins. What matters for the build is the shape, the surface and the method of mounting.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with a detergent because of the release agent from the mold. Cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface carefully: on smooth bodies every trace of sanding shows, so work through progressively finer grits and polish at the end. Apply a primer before painting, as a smooth surface otherwise holds paint poorly. They are glued with cyanoacrylate. Given the smooth casing, it pays to spray thin coats and let them dry properly.
This is an accessory for a model, not a stand-alone kit. The plastic model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
