A set of masks for the glazing of the Japanese carrier torpedo bomber Kate in 1:48. It matches the Hasegawa kit and holds parts for the face and the reverse of the clear components.
Responsibility details are not available.
At the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor the Nakajima B5N was the best carrier torpedo bomber in the world and the Allies had the code name Kate for it. It could carry a torpedo under the fuselage or a heavy bomb, and in the first months of the war it had a hand in sinking several American aircraft carriers. Retractable landing gear, all-metal construction and surprising range made it a machine the opponent's defenses were not prepared for at the outset.
The crew consisted of a pilot, a navigator and a radio operator with the rear defense, and that is why a long glazed tunnel with a large number of frames runs above the fuselage. On a finished model it is the dominant area and it decides whether the build looks like work done with feeling. An uneven hand-drawn line cannot hide here, because the eye follows along the frames automatically.
First rid the clear part of grease and let it dry perfectly. Transfer the templates with tweezers, press them down with a wooden stick and check against the light that no bubble is left anywhere. The inner parts are useful if you are building the model with the sections of the cover slid apart. Apply the paint in several light coats and remove the film as soon as the last of them is touch-dry.
