A set of etched metal parts from the Czech brand Eduard in 1:48 scale for raising the detail of a plastic kit of the BAe Harrier GR.3. It is not a model of an aircraft, but an upgrade for a kit you already have. The Harrier has a technically rich cockpit and an intricate surface, so thin metal parts in the places where plastic is necessarily thicker make a visible difference.
The Harrier is a British single-engine attack aircraft capable of vertical and short takeoff and landing thanks to an engine with swiveling exhaust nozzles. The GR.3 version served with the Royal Air Force in the ground-support and reconnaissance roles and differed from the older versions in the equipment in the forward fuselage. Its characteristic features are the high-set wing, the outrigger undercarriage units at the wingtips and the nozzles on the sides of the fuselage.
Etched parts are separated with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with cutters — the sheet would deform. Folds are most accurate in a bending tool or between two blades, and parts are glued with a tiny drop of cyanoacrylate applied with a pin; on larger faces a slow-setting epoxy helps. Degrease bare metal sheet before painting and give it a primer, otherwise the paint chips off; if the set contains pre-painted parts, leave them unpainted and only seal them with varnish. Have tweezers with fine tips, good light and a steady hand ready, because the smallest pieces fly away easily.
This is not a model kit, but an add-on set. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
