An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Bell P-39 Airacobra fighter in the K/L versions, in 1:48 scale from Eduard. The Weekend edition is a simplified package: it contains quality Eduard plastic parts and decals for several marking options, but no photo-etched parts, masks or resin. It is meant for a brisk weekend build with no need to obtain accessories.
The Bell P-39 Airacobra was an American fighter with an unconventional layout: the Allison engine sat behind the cockpit, amidships, and drove the propeller in the nose through a shaft, where a cannon firing through the propeller axis was also housed. The nosewheel landing gear was unusual for its day as well. The Airacobra made its name above all in the Soviet Air Force, where it was a favorite machine for combat at low and medium altitude.
Finish the cockpit before closing up the fuselage; on the Airacobra, with its automobile-style side doors, it is clearly visible. You will have to mask the glazing yourself, as masks are not included. Apply a primer, spray the camouflage with an airbrush and use a gloss coat before the decals. Accentuate the panel lines lightly with a wash. The simplicity of the Weekend edition will also suit anyone who wants a model finished quickly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
