About product

Bf 109G-10 Mtt Regensburg 1:48 (Eduard)

A plastic kit of a late version of the German fighter Messerschmitt Bf 109G-10 in 1:48 scale. The manufacturer is the Czech company Eduard from Obrnice near Most, a brand known for accurate engraving and richly equipped boxings. The subtitle Mtt Regensburg specifies the production line of the real subject, which with this version decides a number of design details. The item designation corresponds to the better equipped edition from the manufacturer, so you will find the particular contents of the package on the leaflet inside the kit.

The real subject

The Bf 109G-10 was one of the last production variants of the most widespread German fighter of the Second World War. It came about by converting and newly building airframes to a standard with a DB 605 series engine in a late form, which brought higher performance at great altitudes. Typical features are bulged fairings on the upper fuselage, modified cowling and, on a large part of the machines, a tall wooden rudder. The G-10 version was produced in parallel at several plants and the individual lines differed in details of the cowling, the exhausts and the undercarriage covers. That is exactly why models distinguish which line a particular machine came from.

Building and painting tips

Build and paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage, as with this brand it is typically richly detailed and once closed you will not reach it. Fit the engine cowling dry and check the continuity, because the seams on a Bf 109 are visible. Mask the cockpit glazing, whether with tape or with ready-made masks. Late German camouflage schemes are often a mosaic of patches on the sides of the fuselage, which are best done freehand with an airbrush at low pressure or over an improvised mask of modeling putty. Apply a gloss varnish before the decals and unify with matte once dry. Suggest the worn areas on the wing at the root with a lighter shade rather than by scraping.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of German fighters of the Second World War in 1:48
  • Modelers who want to distinguish the production lines of late Bf 109s accurately
  • Anyone interested in richly equipped boxings with room for detailed work
  • Slightly advanced and advanced builders

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It refers to the plant the real subject came from. With the G-10 version the individual lines differed in details of the cowling and the exhausts, so the designation specifies which machine the model represents.

Rather for the slightly advanced. The detailed cockpit and the late mottled camouflage call for experience with an airbrush and with masking.

The item designation corresponds to the better equipped edition from the manufacturer. The exact contents, including any photo-etched parts, masks and the number of schemes, are given on the leaflet inside the kit.

It is a Czech brand based in Obrnice near Most.
