About product

Armament detail for the Bf 109G-6 in 1:48 scale

The Quickboost range rests on a simple principle: one casting, one detail solved, no assembling of photo-etch. This set covers the part connected with the spent cartridge cases of the onboard weapons of the Bf 109G-6 in 1:48 scale. The resin casting has crisper edges and a cleaner shape than a split plastic mold can give, and it is fitted in place of the corresponding part from the kit. The aircraft model itself is not included in the package.

The real subject

The Bf 109G-6 was the most numerously built version of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter. Compared with the earlier G series machines it received MG 131 heavy machine guns above the engine, whose breeches forced the prominent bulges on the fuselage cowling. The core armament was backed by an engine cannon firing through the propeller spinner, or by cannon in gondolas slung under the wings. The way the spent cases were ejected goes with that armament, and that is the detail this set is aimed at.

Usage tips

Before building, wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap and let it dry thoroughly. Separate the casting block with a cutting disc or a fine-toothed saw; never snap the part off. Level the surface with wet abrasive paper so that the part seats on the fuselage with no gap. The original shape in the plastic usually has to be cleaned away first, then test fitted dry and only then bonded with super glue. Paint it at the same time as the surrounding fuselage surface so that the shade and the degree of gloss match; otherwise the replaced part will be obvious at first glance.

Who the set is for

  • For builders of the Bf 109G-6 model in 1:48 scale
  • For modelers who want to sharpen up the details around the armament
  • For those who prefer a finished casting to assembled photo-etch
  • For builds with open or highlighted service details

The accessory is supplied unpainted. The aircraft model, paints and glue are not included in the package.

FAQ

A resin casting of the detail connected with spent cartridge cases. The exact contents of the package are not stated here.

It is not. This is an accessory for a Bf 109G-6 kit in 1:48 scale that you already own.

As a rule yes. The original plastic shape has to be cleaned away, the part test fitted dry and only then bonded with super glue.

Ideally at the same time as the surrounding fuselage surface, so that the shade and degree of gloss match and the replaced part does not show.
