An injection-molded plastic kit of the Blohm & Voss BV 141 in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss, the German asymmetric reconnaissance aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of an extraordinarily unusual German reconnaissance aircraft of the Second World War in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. The box holds gray and clear plastic with a glazed crew nacelle, fine surface detail and decals. The main attraction is the completely asymmetric layout, which makes the finished model one of the most interesting pieces in any collection.
The BV 141 is among the most unusual aircraft ever to fly. The glazed crew nacelle was placed entirely off the centerline, to the right of the boom carrying the engine and the tail surfaces. This asymmetric arrangement gave the crew an excellent field of view for reconnaissance. The designer Richard Vogt worked from the idea that the asymmetry of the masses would be balanced by the torque of the propeller. The aircraft flew well but never reached large-scale production, and only a handful of machines were built.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish and paint the interior of the glazed nacelle before closing it, because it is clearly visible through the glazing. Custom-cut masking film helps keep the glazing clean. Apply a primer before painting and spray the colors with an airbrush; on German camouflage schemes a subtle accent on the panel lines pays off.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
