The set does not belong among interiors: it is a sheet of narrow strips on decal paper that replace the fabric tapes covering the ribs on the wing surface. Against the same product in 1:32, the difference here is above all in fineness. In 1:48 scale the strips are really thin and that sets the whole way of working. The blue shade is one of the color variants of the range; magenta and the others are separate items and do not substitute for one another. The set is universal for all kits of this type.
The Albatros D.I to D.V are German fighter biplanes of the First World War with fabric covering on their flying surfaces. Once the covering had been stretched, narrow tapes were glued over the individual ribs to cover the join, and on a finished aircraft they form a regular grid across the whole wing. The coloring of the tapes was not uniform and differed by maker and by batch.
In 1:48 the main risk is handling. A strip is so narrow that while being lifted out of the water it easily tangles into itself and then cannot be untangled. It therefore pays off to slide the decal off the paper straight onto the surface of the wing and pull the paper out from under it, rather than carrying the free film with tweezers. The base must be gloss, otherwise a thin strip will not grip evenly. Once dry, coat the whole flying surface with matte varnish - without that the grid stays glossy and separates visually from the surrounding covering, which is exactly what the set is meant to avoid.
