A set of photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale for fitting out the glazed nose of the bomber Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress. An accessory to a kit that has been built.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was a four-engined American heavy bomber which during the Second World War made up the backbone of the daylight bombing effort over Europe. The B-17F version was among the forms built in large numbers. The glazed nose was the workplace of the bombardier and the navigator and, through the large area of the glazing, there is more of a view into it on a finished model than anywhere else, so it pays to fit it out properly.
This is a set of photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale, aimed precisely at the inside of the nose. Etching is thin metal sheet with the pattern etched into it. It manages elements that cannot be cast from plastic in a matching thickness: instrument panels, consoles, brackets, seatbelts, stiffeners and small covers. The parts are held on a carrier fret and are cut off it step by step, as their turn comes in the build. The breakdown of the elements and the kit the set is cut for are stated in the instructions from the manufacturer.
Finish and stick the interior of the nose in before you close the fuselage up, as once it is cemented you will no longer get inside. Cut the parts off with a sharp blade on a hard surface and lead the bends along the etched grooves. They are glued with super glue, and on larger surfaces with a two-part glue, which allows the position to be adjusted. Wash the metal before painting, degrease it and underlay it with a base color.
The kit, glue and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
