About product

B-17G Flying Fortress super-chargers 1:48 (resin detail set)

This set is NOT an airplane model but a resin accessory. It reproduces the turbochargers mounted on the underside of the engine nacelles of the four-engined B-17G bomber. The castings have sharper detail of the blades and the ducting than injection-molded plastic allows, and they are intended for models in the same 1:48 scale.

The real subject

Exhaust-driven turbochargers gave the Flying Fortress its engine performance even at the great altitudes at which it operated over Europe. They are prominent, clearly visible features on the underside of the nacelles, so sharpening them shows on a finished model.

Usage tips

Wash the parts free of mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Metallic (graphite) shades and the first traces of corrosion come out well once a primer has been applied; wear respiratory protection while sanding.

Who the set is for

  • builders of the B-17G who want a more faithful underside of the nacelles
  • modelers used to working with resin
  • those who display the model from below as well

This is an accessory, not a model on its own. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
