Eduard 1:48 Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress wheels is a resin set of main landing gear wheels for a model of the famous American bomber in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of replacement wheels from the Czech maker Eduard, from its range of resin accessories for a model of the B-17G bomber in 1:48 scale. The resin castings offer finer rendering of the tires and hubs than injection-molded plastic allows, and they are one of the simplest ways to lift a model visibly — the wheels are simply swapped for the parts from the base kit. It is not an airplane model in its own right.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was a four-engine heavy bomber of the US Army Air Forces, deployed above all on daylight raids over Europe. The G version with the chin turret was built in the largest numbers. The massive main landing gear wheels carried a machine with a take-off weight of more than 29 metric tons, and on a model in 1:48 scale they are a very prominent, clearly visible feature.
Wash the castings in warm water with dish soap and cut the casting blocks off with a saw or sand them away with respiratory protection. Glue the wheels with cyanoacrylate super glue. Paint the tires a dark gray rubber shade rather than pure black, and the hubs in a shade matching the aircraft you have chosen; masking with a circular template makes the transition easier. A fine dust pigment at the end gives the wheels a used look.
This is an add-on set — the airplane kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
