An accessory resin set in 1:48 scale for the main rotor of the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter in the Longbow version. It is not a model of the helicopter but a replacement of the rotor assembly from the base kit, that is of the area where the detail in injection-molded plastic is simplified the most.
The AH-64 Apache is a twin-engine attack helicopter with a tandem cockpit, intended for destroying ground targets and for supporting ground forces. The prototype flew in the middle of the 1970s; the design was originally developed by Hughes and production later passed to other manufacturers. The Longbow is the upgraded variant, whose most conspicuous mark is the radar mounted above the head of the main rotor. The rotor head of the four-blade main rotor is therefore full of links, hinges and supporting elements on this version, and on a model it is visible both from above and from the side.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent, so that any residue of mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a sharp cutter, and never snap thin links. Sand the marks wet and with breathing protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, which you should apply in small amounts with a piece of wire, so that it does not run into the small gaps. Apply a primer before painting. The rotor head is usually painted with a dark base and metal accents on the moving parts; a dark wash and a fine highlight on the edges give it depth. It is practical to paint the assembly before fitting it to the model, because access from above is limited once the build is finished.
The set is an accessory for a build, not a stand-alone model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
