A detail set of crew seats for a kit of the attack helicopter AH-64 Apache from Academy or Hasegawa in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of the helicopter but an accessory with which the seats from the plastic kit are replaced. The seat is precisely the element in the cabin that is best seen under the glazing, and a coarsely made plastic part with a mold seam line across the backrest can spoil the impression of the whole interior.
The AH-64 Apache is an American attack helicopter with a two-seat cabin arranged in tandem, where the gunner sits in front and the pilot behind. The machine came into being in the design office of the firm Hughes, later passed to further manufacturers and on to today's Boeing, which is reflected in the way the type is designated in modeling literature. The cabin is arranged with the emphasis on the survival of the crew: the seats are armored and built so as to absorb part of the energy of an impact in a hard landing. Their characteristic, massive shape, conspicuously different from an ordinary aircraft seat, answers to that.
Paint and finish the seats before you seat them in the cabin, and close the cabin only at the end. Wash the parts before painting and lay on a thin primer. Tell the cushions and the upholstery apart from the supporting structure, bring the recesses out with a dark shade and run a lighter tone carefully over the edges. You can add the straps yourself from thin paper or foil if the set does not hold them.
