1:48 Bristol Beaufighter Mk.VI - PE Set for Revell

The real subject

The Bristol Beaufighter is a British twin-engined heavy fighter of the Second World War with a crew of two. It came out of the Beaufort torpedo bomber, from which it took over part of the structure, but it was given powerful armament concentrated in the nose and in the wing. The Mk.VI version was powered by Bristol Hercules radial engines. The machine served as a night fighter and as an attack aircraft over the sea, where its great endurance and firepower came into their own. The wide fuselage with a short nose and the massive engine nacelles make it a model on which every added detail is visible.

What the set solves

Etched sheet has a thickness in tenths of a millimeter, so elements can be made from it that injected plastic cannot manage at this scale: panels and belts in the cabin, grilles and shields, small metal covers, parts for the undercarriage bays. Which of them the set contains and where they belong is given by the maker's instructions.

Building tips

Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a hard mat and sand the remainder of the tab down. Make the bends in a bender or between the jaws of flat pliers, along the whole length at once, otherwise the sheet will ripple. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue applied in the smallest possible amount. Remove the plastic details that the etched parts replace beforehand and level the surface. Degrease the metal before painting and use a base color; parts with a color print are not oversprayed.
