This Quinta Studio set replaces photo-etched and resin cockpit accessories. The elements are 3D printed directly onto decal paper, come already in color and have a three-dimensional relief, so once applied the instrument panel and the side panels look considerably more convincing than the flat decals from the kit. The product name states that 3D-printed resin parts are included as well. The set is cut for the Beaufighter kit from Tamiya in 1:48 scale, because the elements follow the shape of that particular plastic. The Bristol Beaufighter is a British twin-engine two-seat aircraft that grew out of the Beaufort torpedo bomber and became famous as a heavy fighter and attack machine. The NF version was meant for night fighting and carried an airborne radar operated by the second crew member. The pilot's cockpit sits high on the nose and remains clearly visible on the model even once the fuselage is closed.
These are wet decals: the sheet is soaked in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and the element slides off the backing paper. A decal softener or fixer does not belong with them, as the chemistry attacks the printed resin and ruins the element. The elements are transferred onto a cleaned surface sealed with gloss varnish, whose shape they follow. Unify the areas under the decal beforehand with a darker shade so that no bare plastic shows through anywhere, and finish the whole interior before you close the fuselage.
