A set of masking templates for the Bugatti 100 in 1:48 scale from Special Mask. It is not a kit but an aid for spraying the glazing cleanly.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a set of self-adhesive masking templates, not a model of an aircraft. The templates are cut to the shape of the glazing and serve to produce sharp, straight cockpit framing once the paint is sprayed. On an aircraft as small and as clean in shape as the Bugatti 100, every inaccuracy in the framing shows at once, which is why pre-cut masks pay off.
The Bugatti 100 was a racing and record aircraft designed in the second half of the 1930s in collaboration between the designer Louis de Monge and the car maker Bugatti. It was an aerodynamically very clean wooden machine with two engines placed in the fuselage behind the pilot, which drove contra-rotating propellers in the nose through shafts. The aircraft never got into the air, but thanks to its elegant silhouette it has remained an iconic machine of the interwar period.
Wash the clear part in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry perfectly. Lift the templates off the sheet with the point of a scalpel, carry them with tweezers and press them down around the whole perimeter, especially in the corners. Cover the rest of the glazing with tape or with masking fluid. Spray in thin coats. If you finish the model with a polished gloss varnish, count on needing the edges of the masks really well pressed down. Remove the masks soon after drying, while the finish is still flexible.
The set does not contain a model, paints or glue.
