The first part of the Bulgarian Arrows decal series from Exotic Decals, devoted to Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-3a machines in Bulgarian service, in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit - it is a sheet of markings with which you will finish a model of an Emil built from another maker's box. Anyone who wants a less usual version on the shelf than the German machines gets a theme here that is not seen in ordinary kits.
The Bf 109 E, nicknamed the Emil, was the main German fighter at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s; the E-3a version was an export form delivered to foreign users. The Bulgarian Air Force took the Emils into service at the start of the 1940s and used them both for training and for the defense of its airspace. The Bulgarian national insignia of the time is based on the cross of St Andrew, which gives a model an appearance clearly different at first glance from German machines with the same silhouette.
Spray the face under the decal with clear gloss varnish, as otherwise there is a risk of silvering. Cut the decal close to the print, soak it briefly in lukewarm water and let it rest until it will slide off freely. Seat it with a soft brush, line it up, draw the water off and pull it down into the engraved lines and over the riveting with a decal softener. Only once it is completely dry, seal the surface with varnish in the chosen degree of gloss - that is what makes the edges of the carrier film disappear and the markings merge with the paint.
It is a decal set, not a model. A kit, paints, varnish and a decal softener are not included in the package.
