1:48 Cessna O-2A Skymaster is an Eduard masking set for the glazing of a model of the observation aircraft in 1:48 scale. These are self-adhesive templates for painting, not photo-etched parts, resin or decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set belongs to the masking line of Eduard. Unlike full photo-etched sets, pre-painted Zooms, the Brassin resin line or decals, it supplies no part for the model. It contains die-cut self-adhesive templates of thin masking paper, which are stuck onto the glazed areas, sprayed over along with the rest of the model and removed once dry. What they leave behind is clean glass and precisely bounded frames.
The Skymaster is a civilian light twin-engine aircraft with its engines in a tandem arrangement, whose military observation version kept the extensive glazing of the cabin. The glazing is made up of large areas with pronounced curves, while the dividing frames are narrow. A large area means you would be covering it strip by strip with hand-cut tape and the joints would show under the paint. A pre-cut template covers the whole part at once and the edge comes out the same all round.
On large areas press the center of the template down first and work from there toward the edges so that the paper does not ripple. Around sharper curves the gentle warmth of a hand or lukewarm air helps, as the paper conforms better. If a trace of adhesive stays on the glass after removal, take it off with a cotton swab moistened in isopropyl alcohol, not with an aggressive thinner. On models with large glazing it pays to spray a gloss clear coat at the end so that the glass really looks like glass.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
