1:48 Churchill Mk.VII is a photo-etched detail set from the manufacturer Hauler for refining a plastic model of the British infantry tank Churchill Mk.VII. It is not a tank kit but an accessory for a model. Target kit: Tamiya.

The set is etched from thin metal sheet and replaces features on a plastic model that for reasons of technology have to be molded too thick. Right at the start it is worth saying that it is not a tank model — the base kit of the Churchill Mk.VII in 1:48 scale has to be obtained separately. On the Churchill photo-etch pays off especially: the vehicle has a quantity of sheet covers, fenders and fine brackets that look incomparably better in metal than in plastic. The 1:48 scale is moreover large enough for the difference to be apparent at first glance. The fret is cut for the Tamiya kit.
The Churchill Mk.VII, also designated A22F, was a British infantry tank from the end of the Second World War. Characteristic of it is a tall track layout with the track running around the whole hull, very thick armor and a 75 mm gun in a welded turret. The machine was not fast but excelled in its ability to cross demanding terrain and in its resistance; it was deployed from the fighting in Normandy in 1944 and also served as the basis for a flamethrower version.
Cut the parts off the fret with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface; never break them off. Make the bends in a photo-etch bender or between two razor blades, so that the edges are sharp. It is glued with a small quantity of cyanoacrylate, and load-bearing features can be soldered. Degrease the metal and coat it with a primer for metal, otherwise the paint chips off. On British hardware a darker base, a wash into the hollows and a dry brush on the edges of the covers prove themselves.
This is a supplementary set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
