Control sticks, part one, in 1:48 scale are a small resin detailing accessory from the Mettalic Details brand for the cockpits of aircraft models. It is neither a kit nor a complete set of cockpit equipment.

This item is a small detailing accessory, not a kit. It contains resin control sticks intended to replace the simplified plastic parts in the cockpits of aircraft models in 1:48 scale. In an open cockpit the control stick is one of the first details to catch the eye, and a resin casting manages a thinner column and finer rendering of the grip and the switches than can be drawn out of a split injection mold. A second part of this range, with a different selection of sticks, exists under the same designation.
The set is one of the so-called small improvement parts, which are fitted into an otherwise standard built cockpit. It will tell on models with the canopy slid back or with an open cockpit, where the inside is permanently in view, and equally where a modeler wants to replace a damaged or over-coarse plastic part. Given the size, count on working with tweezers and good lighting.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap so that the residue of the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting block off with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw; with parts this small it pays to work over a tray with a raised rim, so that the cut-off part does not get lost. Glue with superglue applied with a pin, not straight from the bottle. Paint and shade the stick before it is glued into the cockpit. The grip tends to be dark and matte, and the switches are brought out with a spot touch of the brush; a final fine wash pulls out the rendering of the shapes.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
