The 1:48 Curtiss P-40E Warhawk US national insignia circular set serves for spraying the circular form of the American insignia as it was used in the early period of the war.

Eduard offers die-cut masks for spraying the circular form of the American insignia on the model of the P-40E fighter. The circular version, that is a white star in a blue field without the side bars, was in force in the first years of the fighting.
The Curtiss P-40E was a single-engine fighter with a liquid-cooled engine and armament housed in the wings. It was not among the highest-performing machines of its day, but it was sturdy and cheap and was built in large numbers, so it reached American, British, Australian and Soviet units alike. It proved itself mainly at low altitude and in attacks on ground targets, where its weaker performance at height mattered less.
The work goes in two steps: first the dark blue field, then the white star over the inner part of the mask. A very thin coat of clear varnish laid on the mask before the paint helps to seal the edges, and any creeping is then invisible. A circle calls for even pressure all around the rim, otherwise a step forms in the arc. Before you lift the mask, look at the edge against the light; repairs are still easy at that moment.
The set contains masks only; the model itself is sold separately.
