The Czechoslovak helmet vz. 32 in 1:48 scale is an accessory for figures — a separately cast steel helmet for building a figure of the army of the Czechoslovak First Republic.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains a helmet for a figure in 1:48 scale, not a model and not a whole figure. The Czechoslovak helmet is a problem with figures — in ordinary plastic kits it practically does not exist, and without it a figure of the army of the First Republic cannot be built. A separate casting solves that and can be fitted onto a figure's head or used as a set-aside prop in a scene. A variant of the same helmet with the designation detail is also made; check the difference between them on the packaging.
The steel helmet of the vz. 32 pattern was the headgear of the Czechoslovak army; the designation corresponds to the 1932 pattern and it entered service in the course of the 1930s. Characteristic of it is the fairly low, smooth dome with a short, slightly sloping edge, which differs at first glance from the better-known shapes of the helmets of the neighboring armies. The helmet was used after 1939 with other armies too, so it suits later scenes as well. The army and the equipment match here, and the helmet is a logical choice for Czech and Slovak modelers.
First separate the part from the casting system with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and level the trace of the sprue gate with a finer-grit sandpaper. If the set is cast in resin, wash it in lukewarm water with a detergent before painting to rid it of residues of the release agent, and choose the glue according to the material: on resin a cyanoacrylate super glue, on plastic parts a thin glue for plastic. Sand resin wet and with protection for your airways.
In 1:48 scale the smooth dome of the helmet will not take a thick layer of paint — the edge of the rim is the only pronounced shape and it has to stay sharp. Build the base shade up thinly, underline the circumference with a dark wash and brighten the crown with a dry brush. Check the set on the figure's head dry; the helmet is worn sitting straight and fairly deep. Even out any gap between the rim and the head with a two-part compound. Deal with the inside of the helmet only if it will be visible in the scene.
This is an accessory for a figure, not a model on its own. The set is supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the figure are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
