This sheet from the Hungarian manufacturer HAD models is intended for models of the MiG-21bis fighter and the two-seat MiG-21UM trainer in the service of the Finnish Air Force. It holds four finish variants, so one package will finish several different machines. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model that the modeler buys separately.
The MiG-21bis is the last major production version of this single-engine fighter, recognizable by its bulkier dorsal spine and a more powerful engine. The MiG-21UM is the two-seat trainer version with cockpits in tandem and a different canopy. The Finnish Air Force operated both types from the end of the 1970s until the close of the 1990s and used its own schemes of national insignia and tactical numbers for them, which differ markedly from the machines of other operators.
Before applying the decals, go over the model with gloss clear coat. Cut the design out, dip it in lukewarm water and after a few tens of seconds move it from the backing paper onto the model. Soak the rest of the water and the adhesive up lightly with a paper towel, so that the film settles without creases. On large areas and on lettering that runs across engraved lines a softener helps. Finally unify the whole model with a matte or satin varnish.
