1:48 Douglas A-26B and B-26 Invader — wheels is a resin accessory set from the manufacturer Eduard that replaces the landing gear wheels from a plastic kit with more sharply rendered castings. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory for one.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set in cast resin for models of the twin-engine attack bomber Douglas Invader in the versions designated A-26B and, later, B-26. The castings have a sharper tire tread, legible sipes and finer hub detail than the injection-molded plastic parts, on which the detail is usually softened by the mold seam. It is an accessory for a kit you have already bought, not a model in its own right. Before buying, compare the shape of the wheels with the machine you are building.
The Douglas Invader was an American twin-engine attack and light bombing aircraft with radial engines and a nose-wheel landing gear. The original designation A-26 was changed in 1948 to B-26, which is a common source of confusion with a different, older twin-engine type of the same letter designation. The aircraft stayed in service long after the end of the Second World War and saw a range of modifications to the forward fuselage according to the role it filled. The sturdy main landing gear with its large wheels is clearly visible on a model.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, so that no mold release agent stays on the surface and the paint holds. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and level the mating face — on a twin-engine aircraft a wheel set askew shows at once. They are bonded with super glue. Leave the tires in a dark gray tone, because pure black looks flat; spray the hubs separately and mask the boundary. Bring out the sunken recesses with a dark wash and apply fine dust to the contact area at the very end. Sand resin wet.
This is an accessory set made of resin, not a model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
