1:48 Douglas A-4B/A-4C Skyhawk BASIC kabuki masks, a New Ware covering set for the early versions of the Skyhawk in the basic extent.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set for models of two early versions of the American light attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. One item covers both designations stated in the name, because they are close in shape. The BASIC level is the narrowest the maker makes; a wider variant for the same pair of designations exists as a separate item. The set is an aid for painting and does not replace a model.
The A-4B arose as a strengthened form of the first production Skyhawks and received, among other things, equipment for in-flight refueling. The subsequent A-4C brought equipment for flight and attack in poor visibility, which is matched by a slightly different nose. Both versions kept the short, low-set cockpit canopy, however, which sets them apart from the later batches with higher glazing. It is precisely this difference that decides which masks will fit a model.
Before masking, clean the glazing of fingerprints. Seat the parts with regard to the engraving of the frames and press from the center toward the edges so that no air is caught under the edge. Spray in two goes and lift the mask off shortly after drying. Anyone building both versions at once should sort and mark the parts immediately after taking them out; the glazing of the two machines is so similar that scattered pieces are hard to tell apart later.
